FinIce Annual Report year 2010-2011 Our new working year started in October 2010 with Halldór Þórarinsson from Farm food leaving as the chairman of the board and Thordis Loa Thorhallsdottir being elected as Chair. The board was reelected. The aim for the year 2010-2011 was to reconstruct FinIce in new business environment since economic recession has changed the business reality and therefore the membership of FinIce. The Icelandic embassy has hosted most of the chambers meetings along with offering a use of a project manager, Arna Lísbet Þorgeirsdóttir, to work with the chamber. The board thanks the Icelandic Ambassador Elín Flyering and her embassy for excellent co operation and the boards intends to work on well aligned with the embassy in the future. The Chamber objectives are clear in our laws and our work started from that angle. The strategy is to build networks, enhance more business alliances between the two nations and host networking and business meetings and hopefully in the future will the chamber host business trips between the two countries. Our first step into a new era was to reconstruct our information channels up-to-date. The winter of 2010 & 2011 was mostly occupied with reconstructing our homepage and translate it into English, introducing our chamber to possible new members and reestablishing new co operation channels for the future. Today the FinIce chamber has an active co operation with: Embassy of Finland in Iceland Invest In Finland Promote Iceland Finland Chamber of Commerce Icelandic Chamber of Commerce New members have joined the chamber which we welcome and hope for prosperous co operation in the future. An ongoing work will be done in upcoming year to increase membership of FinIce. On the FinIce agenda for upcoming months are: October 18th 2011. Business network lunch linked to the annual meeting October 18th. November 16th. “Business opportunities in Finland” A breakfast meeting in Iceland in Co operation with Promote Iceland. January 2012 – Matka Travel fair in Finland in Co operation with Iceland air and Icelandic Embassy in Finland The board of FinIce thanks all its members and co operations partners for a good year and expects a prosperous work to be done together in the future.
